here I am, just typing to type

I am just a little anxious today. John told me that we might be moving again, and I stress might.

Holy Cow!

So, instead of starting a new blog, I decided to claim my old one.

It has been a rough year. The reason I stopped blogging (not that I was very good at it to begin with), was that my mother's illness progressed and eventually passed away. In the middle of it, my father died from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident. I really, really don't want to go through all the details. Just know that its been a crappy, crappy year (over a year I guess) and I'm finally starting to claim my normal life back.

Woot for me!!

I've finally started to get a decent 8 hours sleep! I weaned my child at night and now he rarely wakes up. We're still co-sleeping which is sorta a surprise to me. I thought we would have kicked him out by now (or at least tried), but we actually enjoy it. I love waking up with a happy Ian. Some mornings its hard. Like this morning we woke up to crying and him screaming, "You have to get up! You HAVE to get up! It's morning time!" It was like a nightmare. I don't know what got into his little toddler brain, but it was just *wrong*.

I've been playing WoW, and I love it. I finally hit level 70 and now I'm kinda bored. I just don't like grinding for rep. Bleh. I play Smita on the Llane server. I sorta started a new Horde character on another server, but I haven't been movitated to play it much.

My newest obssesion is feeding wild birds. I don't know why, but I really enjoyed watching all of the little wild birdies at my Granny's house when I visited there in May. So I decided I'd put up a feeder in my backyard. We have lots of empty wooded lots around us, so our birds seem more "wild" than Granny's city birds. I've only seen pairs of each type of bird and they usually come together. A pair of doves, a pair of cardnials. We even have woodpeckers. Bluejay's too. I even saw a mockingbird yesterday. Oh, and a grass snake. Lots of butterflies. Anyway, its pretty cool. And dang hot outside. I'm hoping that this winter I see more birds and it will be more enjoyable because it will be cooler. My biggest plan is to make a solar powered bird bath. All the info on the internet says that birds are attracted to moving water. I've got an awesome idea in my head, but I want to surprise everyone with a picture of it when I'm done. Its going to be a disappearing fountain.

I did get to decorate my house finally. Some of it at any rate. We painted the living room and den area. I have a new desk section. I love it! I really enjoy living in a place that has my own touch in it. For once!!

I'm off to get myself in trouble in WoW.

John's Birthday

John's Birthday was on Feb 2. I got up and made him breakfast. I explained to him that I picked that particular activity because it was the hardest for me to do. It was the greatest sacrifice of my time heh. I'm so seriously not a morning person. However, I don't think that I really needed to explain that to him, he saw how I was struggling with trying to get everything together and he thought it was very sweet.

Why not buy him a present you ask? Because he purchases anything he wants before I get a chance to buy it. I was at the apple store in orlando and was looking at the iPod nano for him. I called him just to verify that's what he wanted and he told me that just that day he had purchased the ipod shuffle. At least I was smart enough to call and ask before I bought.

Recovery

Well my last post was just before my friend Jennifer came to visit for two weeks. MAN what a whirlwind two weeks that was. I can't freaking believe all the places we went. Jen got to see the beach and Elizabeth (her 23 month old daughter) loved playing in the waves.

We went to Cocoa Beach and of course we had to visit Ron Jon's . I got a few things and a new beach bag. I needed another bag like I need a hole in the head. Jen picked up some clothes for the girls and some makeup! Woot. I got Ian some shirts and of course, some makeup. Wootnwoot. No really, I have a makeup obsession as well.

We did get some productive things done while she was here. I fed my freezer. She helped me organize my list and helped me cook. It was amazing what I could get done while she was here. My organizational skills suck, that's obvious, but it was nice for Ian to be distracted by Elizabeth (or EB as we called her). We made soooo much food. The cool thing about this vs. My delicious dinners (MDD) is that I can pick my favorite recipes. I made a GIGANTIC pot of spaghetti sauce. Or well rather, we did. I have several pounds of ground beef in the freezer as well as a ton of cubed cooked chicken. It took us several days to get it all done, but it was well worth it. I now have a good shopping list, an organization plan and notes on how it went. I think I was a little too ambitious, and I ened up leaving a few recipes out. However, we still made enough for 17 meals. I have the stuff for another 3 or 4 to make on the fly (like Summer Corn Chowder and Beef Stroganoff).

Ugh, I want to post about the whole biting issue (poor EB has freaking bruises everywhere), but I don't have more time to write. Maybe later I'll get to the whole "my child the biter" episode.

There is HOPE!

Well my child is continuing to get better at naptime. I love this whole just walking to the bedroom and nursing him to sleep at naptime. Man, this rocks. You know what else is awesome? TV. He still won't watch a whole episode of anything, but man I can actually get some stuff done.

I have finally started to organize for my feeding the freezer plan. Man I love My Delicious Dinners. I am working very hard on suppling us with a "whole foods" diet. The move from their menus to mine will support that. My biggest crutch is using Cambpell's (why the hell is it spelled like that anyway??) soup. I have several recipes that use at least two different flavors of soup. Ooooh and canned tomatoes. I have a feeling the canned tomatoes will be the last to go. I will probably never make it to complete non-processed food status, but if its one thing I've learned about myself is that if I do stuff very gradually and slowly, I can make it farther than I ever though. Cold turkey IS NEVER EVER the tactic I should use. Which is odd, because I love change. Maybe I like change, but I am too lazy to enact the change most of the time. Ha ha!

My new waffle iron is wonderful. When I'm done experimenting, I'll post my favorite recipes. I need to go to Wally world to get some more food (and another set of ingredients for a different waffle recipe).

Jennifer arrives on Monday. I'm so freaking excited. These next two weeks are going to be fun. Not quite as fun as if John were still going on TDY, but they will be fun. I told John that we were basically going to act as if he weren't here. Though I will still have to provide food for him. That shouldn't be a problem since I plan to enlist Jen as my cooking buddy for a small freezer session. I think she'd find it fun to do with me. And I'm not talking about a 8 hour session or anything. For info on freezer cooking, start with this.

My child is blissfully asleep, so I'd better run to the store while John can watch him heh. If I wait too late he'll wake up and then I'll have to take him.

Adventures in Sleepland.

Hey, here I am again months later.

Woot! I found time to post. Aren't you amazed? Actually its only because my child has run into his own routine. He's started regularly falling asleep around noon, and staying asleep for at least two hours. Its so very nice of him. He has also gotten just a little bit more relaxed about falling asleep. No battle for 15 minutes. At one point in his short life, I had to rock and nurse him to sleep in a room with a TV blaring just to get him to fall asleep. If you did it in a quiet room, he knew what you were up to and would start screaming and kicking.

Last night however, he was getting kinda sleepy and I could see it. It was 10 something and John had already gone to bed. Well he was not wanting to nurse, and was just content to watch TV in my lap (an oddity in and of itself). He kept yawning and shaking his head trying to stay awake. He was so limp that I just took him into the bedroom and laid him down with me. He started to nurse to sleep but then flopped over on to his tummy and just closed his eyes. He let out a final noise of protest and fell asleep. It was too funny. I wouldn't have considered that a victory, but he did almost the same thing for a nap today. Well, he did nurse himself to sleep, but normally he would never have let me take him into the bedroom before he was fully asleep. Just walking into the bedroom before would have sent him into a fussy fit.

So here I am. My kitchen is clean. I don't know what to do with myself. So I decided to post to my blog. Woootnwoot. I'm just so happy that my high maintenence baby is sorta letting up i some areas. He actually watches a TV show here or there and I can actually get some things done. Or, he's happy to just be in a ROOM with me vs. having me in his face constantly. Someone told me, "Oh, its easy for me to get the housework done. I just sit my daughter next to me when I fold laundry." WTF ever. WElllllll goood for you. I didn't say anything. She's a Ferber mom too. I knew there was nothing I could tell her that would convince her that my child isn't wired that way.

That's what I'm happy about this week. :)

Copycat

Howdy.

I figured I'd get a blog because Vicki did. Har har. I've tried to start one several times before, but I didn't keep up with it. I figured I might write more frequently if I feed off vicki's posts. Maybe a support blog? Yeah, whatever lol.

Needless to say, Here I am! Hopefully I'll use this to let people keep up with me. Not like I call all my friends all the time because I have free long distance. I noticed there was an advanced set-up, maybe I'll get John to host my blog from our website. Wouldn't that be cool?

I can't give you an estimate on how often I'll post, but maybe like once a week?
